Two sisters,
One focus on health
Finca L’Estel Verd is a family-owned and operated farm rooted in both heritage and purpose. The business is led by two Puerto Rican sisters, Maria (“Maru”) and Marian, who bring together expertise in medicine, leadership, and systems thinking to build a regenerative, wellness-driven agricultural model.
Our mission is to heal people and land through soil regenerative practices, biodiversity, and nutrient-dense food—grown, shared, and experienced through immersive, hands-on practices that promote wellness, deepen understanding, and inspire more sustainable ways of living.
Our farm produces fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, olives, and grapes while offering hands-on experiences such as harvesting, workshops, and educational tours.
Through regenerative agrotourism we transform how people connect with food, farming, and environmental health.
Maru has spent her career at the forefront of medicine, specializing in thyroid cancer and treating some of the most complex and aggressive cases. Her work contributed to the development of treatment protocols for BRAF-mutated anaplastic thyroid cancer—one of the most lethal forms of the disease—establishing her as a leader in her field. As she transitions from clinical practice to mentoring the next generation of researchers, her focus is expanding from treatment to prevention. Grounded in a deep understanding of how environmental toxins impact human health, Maru brings scientific rigor to every aspect of Finca L’Estel Verd—from testing the purity of the farm’s water to ensuring regenerative practices that protect soil and biodiversity. For her, the farm is not a departure from medicine, but a continuation of it: a living, breathing space where healing begins at the source.
Maru spent all of her professional career at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas where she met her husband Kris Griffith, MBA who was the Director of the Ethics Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Together, they relocated to Masarac and are responsible for the farm’s daily operations, land stewardship, and production. Their combined backgrounds in medicine and ethics inform a thoughtful, science-based approach to regenerative farming and environmental responsibility.
